It served as a short of "year in review" and was the first time a whole show was dedicated to my film music. After the program I was deeply humbled and surprised at all the positive emails regarding the show. I received a many words of praise and thanks for allowing my music to be broadcast.

The show ended up being so popular I made the decision that every year during the second to last weekend, I would make it a tradition to play my music for your enjoyment.

Would you rather not wait that long?

For the past decade I've been fairly disorganized when it comes to managing and distributing my music via the internet. I press CD demos for prospective clients and have avoided making my music available on the internet for many years. Only recently have I put up MP3s of my film music on this blog for people to listen to. I've been searching for a more effective and controlled method for distributing my music online which is why I just recently joined ReverbNation.

ReverbNation is a site where I can collect, manage, distribute, and monitor all my film music. I can create widgets to post around the internet and disseminate tunepaks to target clients. Tunepaks are customized playlists that appears as a music player widget via a web browser. It looks like after ten years and an estimated 3000 demo CDs, I don't think I'll ever have to burn another one ever again.

I'd like to invite everybody to check out my page, listen to my music, and check back often for new uploads. If you feel so inclined, I encourage you to sign up as a fan so you can keep in touch with my latest activities. For now, all my music is streamed and unavailable for download but I will be looking into making several of my scores available for purchase via iTunes in the near future.

Here is a music player widget which has everything that I have uploaded to date. These are stereo 320kbps MP3s which sound fantastic streamed from the player. Also take note that there will forever be a widget posted on the right hand side of this blog (scan down to view and listen).

Right now I have selections from the following film scores available for listening...

ARTOIS THE GOAT (2009)
COWBOY SMOKE (2008)
THE CHILDREN'S WAR (2009)
RIDE AROUND THE WORLD (2006)
UNCONVENTIONAL: THE STORY OF THE BARNETT SHALE (2008)
MAKING THE MODERN (2003)

More score selections will be posted including a few more features and some of my short film work in the upcoming weeks.

Enjoy!

I've also posted music on my Facebook account.

ReverbNation also contains a wealth of information regarding my career including press quotes, bio, my blog posts, photos, and videos.

Feel free to spread the word and thanks for listening!
Hello. I just wanted to give everybody a heads up that the next edition of Film Score Focus will air Saturday at 7PM and not at 10AM. The time slot is being pre-empted by an early start time of the Live Metropolitan Opera broadcast.

The next show, FSF-155 GOODBYE HEFTI AND GERTZ will air at 7PM on December 6th.

Then, on December 13th the encore broadcast of FSF-154 THE QUICKEST LAUGH IN THE WEST will air.

Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for your attention.

-Brian
The contest is officially over and I do believe we have a winner!

Before I announce the winner I'd like to thank those who entered and sent me some fabulous ideas for future programming here on Film Score Focus. My list of show ideas hasn't shrunk since I took over the program two years ago and now, thanks to you, I've been able to add more diverse programming ideas which I plan to share with you.

I hope you enjoyed the show today on the eclectic film music of Mychael Danna.

Without further adieu the winner of the two free Mychael Danna CDs: THE NATIVITY STORY (2006), and BREACH (2007) is...

Susan M. Romanella of San Marcos, Texas.

While everybody wrote in ideas that would make excellent programs Susan took her idea a step further. Quoted below is what she sent me...

My best idea is to do a show on “water music on film”…selecting films where water (albeit in the form of rivers, oceans, streams, ponds….or even ice and snow) is a central focus in the story and its presence is translated into the accompanying score. It would be exciting, in lieu of hearing the scores of more obvious choice “blockbuster” films, to hear some lesser known music and composers.

I do have another important reason for suggesting this idea for a show. 2007-2008 is the year of the “Water Planet” Common Experience theme at Texas State University-San Marcos. Throughout the year, our university community will focus on and celebrate the unique role of water in our lives in an effort to encourage good stewardship of this precious natural gift. I have included the link to the “Water Planet” Common Experience website that features a few of the upcoming events and programs that will take place all year long. Shimmering and flowing throughout our campus, the San Marcos River is an ever present reminder of the beauty, power, and grace of water. The subject of water is a source for creative expression that crosses all boundaries – artistic, cultural, and historical. It would be wonderful to add your special musical signature to this “common experience”!
http://www.txstate.edu/commonexperience/index.htm

Susan didn't merely suggest an idea for a show that would certainly reap volumes of wonderful film music we could all enjoy. She suggested a show that could also bring awareness to an issue that is very near and dear to her heart. I'm often humbled by the power that music has in a film. Susan reminded me of the power that it can wield off screen as well. There are no supplemental reasons to listen to film music other than pure enjoyment, however if it can bring awareness to our culture, our society, or to us as a people living on this planet, then it's done something that not many mediums are able to accomplish and for this I was impressed and deeply grateful for her idea.

Sometime early next year I'm going to work with Susan and try to produce a show of great "water" film music highlighting the Water Planet Common Experience theme at Texas State University - San Marcos.

Thanks Susan for taking the time out to write and for all who sent in show ideas! You are all wonderful!

Enjoy the Show!
